Transcript: Using Zelle

CIBC US Digital Banking is proud to be partnered with Zelle®, a digital payment network.

Zelle® allows you to send and receive money directly between bank accounts, usually within minutes. You can use it to pay friends, family and some small businesses using their email address or mobile number. Let's walk you through how to do so.

You'll first need to sign on to your CIBC US Digital Banking account and add a recipient or a list of recipients.

Add recipient
Type in the recipient's name and their US mobile number or email address. Then click Add and Continue.

A reminder comes up asking you to confirm their details. If correct, click Next.

Now you are ready to use the send, receive, or split transaction features.

To send money, choose a name and an amount to send. Choose from the dropdown list which CIBC US Digital Banking account the money will come from, then click Review.

You can also enter a memo for your transaction. Depending on the transaction, you may be prompted to get a one-time verification code by text or phone call. When that code is typed in and accepted, the money will be sent.

When you receive confirmation that the money has been sent, click All Done. You and your recipient will receive a text message confirming this transaction.

Requesting money is as easy as sending it.

On the Zelle® page, choose Request Money, then choose a recipient from your list. Enter the amount you're requesting and select the CIBC US Digital Banking account where you want the money deposited.

If you like, you can also fill out a memo. Your recipient will receive a notification to send the money you requested.

The split option is handy for dividing a bill of any kind. Let's say you and your friends have dinner and want to split the bill. Choose the option Split a Bill, enter the amount of the bill, then choose the recipients you're splitting with.

The amount will be divided into equal amounts, but you can adjust the amount that each person pays before sending it out.

You can also fill out a memo for your records, then review the details and submit. Each person will receive a request via text or email for their portion of the bill.

And finally, you can choose activity to look over all of your transactions. Please note that CIBC US Mobile Banking does not charge any fees to use Zelle® in the CIBC US Mobile Banking app. However, your mobile carrier's messaging and data rates may apply.

If you have any questions or want more information, please contact us. CIBC US Digital Banking is always here to help.
