CIBC acquires Chicago-based private wealth management firm Geneva Advisors


The PrivateBank becomes indirectly, wholly owned subsidiary of CIBC


CIBC completes purchase of Atlantic Trust Wealth Management


The PrivateBank completes $17 million initial public offering and began trading on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange under the ticker "PVTB"


The PrivateBank opens first office in Chicago and begins doing business as The PrivateBank


Company Headquarters, Commerce Court, is opened in Toronto


The Commerce and the Imperial Bank of Canada merge to form the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC)


Imperial Bank of Canada, CIBC's other founding bank, opens for business


Canadian Bank of Commerce is founded and the first branch is opened in Toronto
