CIBC expands its Commercial Banking team across key U.S. markets
CHICAGO, AUGUST 8, 2022 — CIBC today announced it has recently hired eight banking professionals, expanding its Commercial Banking team across several key U.S. markets.

Capatides, Senior Executive Vice President and Group Head, U.S. Region. “These hires demonstrate CIBC’s ongoing commitment to enhance its commercial banking capabilities nationwide, and further our mission of helping our clients realize their ambitions.”
Temi Tiamiyu joins CIBC as director of loan syndications in Chicago, Illinois. In this role, she supports the middle-market commercial lending business through management of the loan syndication process from origination to close. Prior to joining the Bank, Tiamiyu served as an assistant vice president at Bank of America. Tiamiyu is a certified public accountant. She earned her bachelor’s degree in applied economics and management, with concentrations in accounting and finance from Cornell University.
Kurt Biese, who brings over 20 years of banking experience, is named managing director and middle-market portfolio manager in Chicago, Illinois. In this role, he is responsible for underwriting, portfolio management and meeting the needs of clients in the Financial Institutions market. Previously, he was a senior vice president at Associated Bank. Biese is a U.S. Air Force veteran who earned a master of business administration degree from Lakeland College and a bachelor of science degree from the University of Wisconsin at Green Bay.
Part of CIBC’s expansion includes the addition of six relationship managers. These professionals, who maintain and develop client relationships and ensure their clients’ day-to-day banking needs are being met, include:
- David Pecka, who joins the Bank in Chicago, Illinois, sits on CIBC’s Asset-based Lending Group. With more than 30 years of industry expertise, he joins from LaSalle Business Credit. He earned a master of business administration degree from DePaul University and a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
- Jason “JJ” Simon is a 17-year industry veteran who joins CIBC in Denver, Colorado from U.S. Bank. He received a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Denver.
- Lisa Resnick leads a Commercial Real Estate banking team in Tampa, Florida, and comes to CIBC from Truist Bank, with over 25 years of experience. Resnick earned a master of business administration degree and a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Florida.
- David Kosmalski, who has been in the banking industry for a decade, is working in CIBC’s Tampa, Florida office focused on Commercial Real Estate banking. He joins from Truist Bank, and earned a bachelor’s degree from Haworth College of Business at Western Michigan University.
- Vivian De Moraes joins CIBC from BankUnited. With more than 25 years of industry experience, she provides market coverage in South Florida. De Moraes earned a master of business administration degree in finance from the University of Dayton and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Cedarville University.
- Thomas Cha focuses on small middle-market companies in Lake Forest, Illinois. He joins CIBC with 25 years of banking expertise. Cha, who most recently worked at Chase Commercial Bank, earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from DePaul University.
