Robert Frentzel

Executive Vice-President and Head, Commercial Banking, U.S. Region

Bob Frentzel is Executive Vice-President and Head, Commercial Banking, U.S. Region. He leads CIBC’s Commercial Banking business in the U.S., providing client-centric banking solutions to commercial clients including diversified and specialized commercial businesses, Commercial Real Estate, Treasury Management, Syndications, and Middle Market Investment Banking. He is a member of the U.S. Executive Committee and the Global Leadership Team.

He joined CIBC through the 2017 acquisition of The PrivateBank. Prior to joining The PrivateBank, he held senior leadership roles at LaSalle Bank and began his career at Harris Trust and Savings Bank (now BMO).

Bob received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Miami University and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance and Marketing from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He serves on the board for The Big Shoulders Fund and is Trustee Chair for the Chicago Academy of Sciences and Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. He is also an active member in several professional and civic organizations, including the Illinois Road and Transportation Builders Association, Metropolitan Planning Council, Leadership Greater Chicago, Bankers Club of Chicago, Chicago Club, Economic Club of Chicago and The Executives’ Club of Chicago.
