James Turner

Managing Director and Co-Head, U.S. Commercial Real Estate

James Turner is Managing Director and Co-Head, Commercial Real Estate, U.S. Region. He is responsible for internal operations, regulatory compliance, asset management, credit processes, and driving operational efficiencies. James is a member of the U.S. Region Executive Leadership Team and CIBC’s Global Leadership Team.

James has over 30 years of experience in financial services and joined The PrivateBank in 2007. He joined CIBC as part of the 2017 acquisition of The PrivateBank. James started his career at LaSalle bank in 1988, working in the commercial lending department. While at LaSalle, he started the construction and engineering group in 1999.

James is a member of the Chicago chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), a Board Member of World Business Chicago and the former Board Chair of The Chicago Loop Alliance. He received his bachelor’s degree from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri.
