Jeff Steele

President, Specialized Industries

Jeff Steele is President of Specialized Industries. In this role, he oversees teams providing specialized banking services to industry groups, including construction and engineering, environmental services, healthcare, insurance and security. Steele serves on the CIBC U.S. Region Executive Committee and the Global Leadership team.

Steele joined CIBC through the 2017 acquisition of The PrivateBank. Previously, he served as President of The PrivateBank’s Healthcare Banking group. Prior to joining The PrivateBank, Steele worked in various capacities at LaSalle Bank, N.A., including serving as Group Senior Vice-President from 2001 to 2007. At LaSalle Bank, he also headed multiple general Commercial and Industrial teams, with a focus on private equity coverage. Before joining LaSalle Bank in 1992, Steele served in a variety of roles at National Boulevard Bank of Chicago (now U.S. Bank), including Vice-President and Co-Head of Commercial Banking.

Steele received his bachelor of science in Finance from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and completed a graduate program in Banking Management from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking. He’s a board member of the Chicago Children’s Choir and the Board Director of the Door County YMCA Endowment Fund. He is also a past trustee of the Harris Theater, Shedd Aquarium and Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart. Steele has taught as a guest lecturer at Indiana University’s Kelley School for Business and the University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business.
