Paul Carey

U.S. Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President, Strategy

Paul Carey is U.S. Chief Financial Officer, overseeing the teams responsible for financial planning and analysis, tax, controllership, treasury and strategy development for CIBC’s U.S. Commercial and Wealth business as well as the combined U.S. Region, which includes CIBC Bancorp USA and the New York Branch. He is a member of the U.S. Executive Committee and the Global Leadership Team.

Carey previously served as CIBC’s U.S. Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer. He joined CIBC in 2017 through the acquisition of The PrivateBank, where he held similar roles since joining in 2009. Previously, Carey was Senior Vice President and Controller, Shared Services and Treasury Management, at ABN AMRO, the parent of LaSalle Bank.

Carey serves on the board of directors for Cristo Rey Jesuit Academy in Chicago. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Northern Illinois University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
