Richard Dalton

Senior Vice President and Chief Risk Officer

Richard Dalton is Senior Vice President and Chief Risk Officer for CIBC’s U.S. Region. He is responsible for the U.S. Region’s enterprise risk management, which includes independent oversight of credit, operational, market, liquidity and reputational risks. Dalton is a member of the U.S. Region Executive Committee.

Previously, Dalton was at HSBC in the U.S. where he most recently served as Chief Risk Officer, Wholesale Banking & Markets and Head of Risk Strategy. Dalton also held senior banking leadership positions with Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, and Goldman Sachs, and began his career as a policy advisor for the Government of Canada within the Departments of Finance and Industry.

Dalton earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Trent University, a master’s degree in economics from the London School of Economics and an MBA with a specialization in analytical finance and accounting from University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.
